Blessing of Parents after a Miscarriage PDF Print E-mail
Written by unknown
Friday, 12 February 2010 15:17

When a baby dies before birth, the parents may seek the prayers of the Church. A priest, deacon, or lay minister of the parish, or a member of the family may lead this blessing.

Make the sign of the cross.

The leader begins:  Let us praise the Father of mercies, the God of all consolation. Blessed be God for ever.

All respond: Blessed be God for ever.

The leader may use these or similar words to introduce the blessing:

For those who trust in God,

in the pain of sorrow there is consolation,

in the face of despair there is hope,

in the midst of death there is life.

(Name) and (Name), as we mourn the death of your child,

we place ourselves in the hands of God and ask strength, for healing, and for love.

Then the Scripture is read:

Listen to the words of the book of Lamentations:

My soul is deprived of peace,

I have forgotten what happiness is;

I tell myself my future is lost,

all that I hoped for from the Lord.

But I will call this to mind,

as my reason to have hope:

The favors of the Lord are not exhausted,

his mercies are not spent;

They are renewed each morning,

so great is his faithfulness.

My portion is the Lord, says my soul;

therefore I will hope in him.

--   Lamentations 3:17-18, 21-24

The reader concludes: The Word of the Lord.

All respond: Thanks be to God.

After a time of silence, all join in the prayers of intercession.

These conclude with the Lord's Prayer.

Then the leader may invite all to extend their hands over the parents in blessing.

Father and Creator,

in whom all life and death find meaning,

we bless you at all times,

especially when we have need of your consolation.

N. and N. entrust to your care a life conceived in love.

May your blessing come upon them now.

Remove all anxiety from their minds

and strengthen this love

so that they may have peace in their hearts and home.

We ask this through Christ our Lord. Amen.

All make the sign of the cross as the leader concludes:                                                                                                                        May the almighty and merciful God bless and protect us, the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit . Amen ( all respond )

Miscarriage Prayer PDF Print E-mail

My Lord, the baby is dead!

Why, my Lord—dare I ask why? It will not hear the whisper of the wind or see the beauty of its parents’ face—it will not see the beauty of Your creation or the flame of a sunrise. Why, my Lord?” Why, My child—do you ask ‘why’? Well, I will tell you why.

You see, the child lives. Instead of the wind he hears the sound of angels singing before My throne. Instead of the beauty that passes he sees everlasting Beauty—he sees My face. He was created and lived a short time so the image of his parents imprinted on his face may stand before Me as their personal intercessor. He knows secrets of heaven unknown to men on earth. He laughs with a special joy that only the innocent possess. My ways are not the ways of man. I create for My Kingdom and each creature fills a place in that Kingdom that could not be filled by another. He was created for My joy and his parents’ merits. He has never seen pain or sin. He has never felt hunger or pain. I breathed a soul into a seed, made it grow and called it forth.”

I am humbled before you, my Lord, for questioning Your wisdom, goodness, and love. I speak as a fool—forgive me. I acknowledge Your sovereign rights over life and death. I thank You for the life that began for so short a time to enjoy so long an Eternity.

God forgive me For I have sinned

God, when will the pain  And suffering end

My angel is gone Taken from me

But why This answer I'm trying to see

Every night  While lying in bed

I constantly think what could have been said

Maybe if I tried Or even fought

My angel would be here And not just a thought

But I just lied there  And let it be done

Without a teardrop Not even one

They told me it was the right thing That it was "for the best"

Well then why am I lying here Unable to rest

Now she's just a memory Constantly in my mind

And comfort is what I'm Trying to find

So as I lie here Crying in my bed

Their words run constantly Through my head

Was it the right thing  The fair thing for her

When I see her in Heaven Will she call me mother

So I was 15 To young to be heard

But will that excuse  Mean anything to her

Will you forgive me  Sweet angel of mine

You're answer is what I'm trying to find

But if you can't forgive me I will understand

And move on with life  The best that I can

Please remember You're always on my mind

And I will always love you Until the end of all time

Love Always Forever undying and unconditionally,

Mommy

A Mother’s Prayer PDF Print E-mail

I closed my eyes and prayed to God today.

I asked what makes a Mother and I know I heard him say,

A Mother has a baby this we know is true.

But God can you be a Mother when your baby’s not with you?

“Yes you can!” he replied with confidence in his voice,

“I give many women babies, when they leave it's not their choice.

Some I send for a lifetime and others for a day.

And some I send to feel your womb but there’s no need to stay.”

I don’t understand this God, I want my baby here,

He took a breath and cleared his throat and then I saw a tear.

I wish I could show you what your child is doing today.

If you could see your child smile with the other children and say,

“We go to earth to learn our lessons of love and life and fear,

my mommy loved me oh so much I got to come straight here."

I feel so lucky to have a mom who had so much love for me

I learned my lesson very quick. My mommy set me free.

I miss my mommy oh so much but I visit her everyday.

When she goes to sleep, on her pillow is where I lay.

I stroke her hair and kiss her cheek and whisper in her ear,

"Mommy don’t be sad today, I’m your baby and I’m here.”

So you see my dear sweet one, your children are ok.

Your babies are here in my home and this is where they’ll stay.

They’ll wait for you with me until your lesson is through

And on that day that you come Home they’ll be at the gates for you.

So now you see what makes a Mother.

It’s the feeling in your heart

It’s the love you have so much of, right from the start.

Though some on earth may not realize that you are a Mother,

until their time is done

They’ll be up here with me one day and know you’re the best one.

A baby is a blessing, no matter if it's here.

To know it lived within you, is God's gift to you my dear.

Just know you'll be reunited, and see each other's face.

God knew what he was doing when he took him from this place.

It is o.k. to cry, to let them know you care.

But let your tears be of joy, instead of tears of fear.

I am a mother of 4 living children and one on the way.  I also had an heterotopic pregnancy and one of my twin babies died.  Just thought I would give a few words to touch someone's heart.
